About the role

The role of Pastoral Care Coordinator (HammondCare At Home) works within the Mission and Mission in Action of HammondCare to ensure provision of pastoral care coordination within HammondCare At Home (HCAH). This is achieved through the service and support of clients, their families and staff.

As a key support service for HammondCare, our Pastoral Care Coordinator acts as a role model for staff and as an advocate for HammondCare’s mission and Christian values, mindful of the sensitivities of providing spiritual care and support in community settings.

Essence of the role:

  • Ensure provision of pastoral care, leadership and support to clients, their families, staff and pastoral care volunteers of HammondCare
  • Facilitate engagement of pastoral care volunteers in the provision of pastoral care
  • Act as role models for staff and as an advocate for the HammondCare Motivation, Mission and Mission in Action
  • Share pastoral expertise and coach staff and pastoral care volunteers to support the spiritual needs and goals of the clients

 

Education, Skills and experience

Essential:

  • Credentialed Pastoral qualification or recognised theological and pastoral qualifications, or significant experience and willingness to complete a recognised qualification.
  • Commitment to engage and align with HammondCare’s Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action.
  • Relevant education and experience in Pastoral Care.
  • Strong personal and active Christian faith and church involvement.
  • Strong administrative and computer skills and intermediate capability with programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Empathy and patience.
  • A valid Class C drivers licence and a reliable, comprehensively insured motor vehicle
  • Willingness to travel between HammondCare sites and services including Client residences

Desirable:

  • Strong administrative and computer skills and intermediate capability with programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams.
  • Understanding of the spiritual & pastoral needs of those living with dementia and/or major health issues.
