More about the role

The role of the Level 1/ 2 Speech Pathologist is to work within the Mission and Mission in Action of HammondCare to ensure a high standard of Speech Pathology service is provided to patients of the Hospital, along with appropriate support and advice to their carers. The Speech Pathologist will participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure a patient centered, evidence based, continuous quality improvement work environment that is consistent with the values and ethics of HammondCare and Speech Pathology Australia.


The essence of this role:

  • Provision of effective and efficient speech pathology service to clients and appropriate support and advice to their carers
  • Participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team in assessing patients’ level of functional and care needs, setting care goals and providing appropriate treatment.
  • Participate as a member of the HammondCare team in the application of the organisation’s Mission and values to the pursuit of its objectives in a client centered, continuous quality improvement work environment


About you – Experience


  • Commitment to engage and align with HammondCare’s Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action.
  • A tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology acceptable to Speech Pathology Australia as a practicing member.
  • Significant practical experience or Extensive Knowledge in providing Speech Pathology Services in a Rehabilitation, Aged Care or Palliative Care setting.  Experience across inpatient and outpatient/ community settings would be desirable.
  • A current drivers license and safe driving record.
  • Willingness to travel between HammondCare’s sites and services.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal).
  • Demonstrated organisation and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Empathy and patience.



  • Strong administrative and computer skills.
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural environment.
  • An understanding of Work Health and Safety policies and procedures.
