The opportunity
The Head of Organisational Development (OD) & Strategic Workforce Planning works to set the strategy and execute the organisation’s entire approach to organisation development.
The role is responsible for understanding business context, setting the strategic direction for the OD function and ensuring outstanding delivery of these services. Key accountability includes working with key stakeholders to evolve and articulate a compelling Employee Value Proposition (EVP) and work with leaders to bring it to life (internally and in the market). Evolution of HammondCare’s career pathways is a key requirement of this role. In partnership with the business this role is also accountable for effective strategic workforce planning (SWP), determining current and future needs and demands and working across the value chain to meet these needs.
In addition, this role is accountable for working with stakeholders to determine the talent strategy for the organisation (key executive roles as well as frontline) including talent identification and development and succession planning.
As a member of the People Leadership team this role will also work closely with the broader People team to proactively contribute, lead and deliver on the People function’s strategic direction and strategic initiatives. The role also manages and develops an OD Specialist.

This role has flexibility to work from Sydney (office based in St Leonards) or Melbourne (office based in Malvern), with hybrid working options.

Duties include
- Work effectively with the relevant stakeholders to shape, influence and transform HammondCare’s People service delivery as it relates to OD
- Continue to evolve and embed a differentiated and compelling EVP
- In partnership with key stakeholders evolve and execute the talent strategy
- Evolve and execute HammondCare’s SWP framework to ensure future capability and skills requirement are planned for and met
- Embed Leader Capability Framework, Leader attributes and implement other strategies and tools as required to build highly capable leaders throughout the business
- Lead the organisational approach to engagement, performance and retention including designing, developing and implementing an annual engagement survey and overall organisational-wide strategies and action plans that support building the engagement and performance of our people
- Provide thought leadership to business partners and key leaders
- Ensure design of products from the OD COE are fit for purpose, meet business needs, are simple and easy to use
- Liaise with others in the sector and the discipline to share and learn best practice approaches.
- Ownership of HammondCare’s D&I strategy and execution of initiatives, ensuring the strategy is refreshed to align to HammondCare’s overall strategy and direction
- Lead, coach and provide day to day advice and guidance to the OD Specialist
Who are you?
- Commitment to engage and align with HammondCare’s Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action.
- A tertiary degree in HR, Organisational Psychology or related area
- Significant experience in OD and strategy development and implementation
- Ability to operationalise strategy and deliver services to agreed service levels in a customer centric way
- Outstanding people leadership skills
- Track record of performance and strong delivery
- Demonstrable critical thinking capability, and the ability to problem solve
- Ability to use data and analytics to track the effectiveness of programs and inform the design and continuous improvement of initiatives.
- Willingness to travel between HammondCare’s sites and services
- Outstanding stakeholder relationship and influencing skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience in aged care / health settings (desirable)
- Knowledge of Workday (desirable)
