The opportunity 

The role of People Partner works to translate business requirements into effective people practices that are aligned to business strategy and objectives. The role will work with key stakeholders and leaders to deliver value added people initiatives in line with the needs and priorities of business.

People Partners work closely and proactively as an integral part of the Care Unit or Enabling Units they support in addition to partnering with the Centres of Expertise and People Operations & Transformation teams to deliver on our people initiatives and provide the interface into the business for delivery of strategic people programs.

Key Focus Areas 

  • Provide strategic advice and expert guidance to the HammondCare Leadership Group (HLG) on strategic people matters including award and agreement interpretation, coaching and performance management and workforce management
  • Coach and support HLG stakeholders to fulfil their leadership and workforce management roles and deliver on their people priorities through embedding standardised people practices such as talent and succession planning, remuneration frameworks and team member engagement, organisation development and governance initiatives
  • Assist and actively contribute to transformational projects as agreed
  • Be an integral member of the People Function by actively engaging with peers to deliver end-to-end solutions to the business 

This role is primarily based in St Leonards, however will require regular  travel across our sites, with hybrid working options also available.

Duties include

  • Support the delivery of the People strategy and execute in partnership with the GM People Partnering to allocated Care and Enabling Unit/s to ensure performance, capability, engagement and talent initiatives align to the business strategy
  • Partner effectively with designated HammondCare Leadership group stakeholders and provide quality proactive and reactive advice, to effectively deliver on their people priorities and manage team member performance
  • Build effective talent pipelines through supporting Leaders to identify talent, developing workforce plans, developing talent and succession plans and identifying buy, borrow, and build strategies
  • Build leadership capability across the talent pipeline leveraging available programs
  • Influence program development, coach Leaders, and support alignment to the HammondCare leader attributes
  • Partner with Leaders to develop engagement initiatives with a commercial mindset and passion for continuous improvement and innovation
  • Provide actionable insights to Leaders on trends in People data and provide support and coaching to act on the data
  • Support the implementation of people change initiatives, including embedding principles in the change and helping leaders to overcome impacts of change
  • Keep abreast of changes to employment law and industrial instruments applicable to allocated Care and Enabling unit
  • Provide timely and professional advice and assistance; coaching; and education to leaders to understand and apply legislated terms and conditions and meet our ER obligations
  • Provide effective communication and build strong working relationships with stakeholders
  • Actively contribute to operational projects as required
  • Support with the recruitment of senior leadership roles where needed
  • Support designated HammondCare Leadership group stakeholders in driving cyclical people processes including engagement surveys, reward and recognition, remuneration and salary reviews, performance management and talent reviews
  • Escalate more complex matters to CoE as appropriate
  • Partner with designated leadership team stakeholders in building a Missionally aligned culture through effective people leadership coaching
  • Support the implementation of the HR Service proposition and Operating Model, coaching the business unit leaders on accessing people services appropriately 

Who are you?

  • Commitment to engage and align with HammondCare’s Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action.
  • A tertiary degree in HR / Employee Relations or related area
  • Practical experience in all aspects of contemporary human resources management within complex matrix style organisations
  • 5+ years functional expertise in Business Partnering with end­-to-­end HR process understanding
  • Functional expertise in one or more specialist areas
  • A proactive approach in establishing good working relationships and demonstrating influence with key stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver work to high quality standard with a strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrable critical thinking capability, and the ability to problem solve
  • Strong commercial and analytical skills
  • A current driver’s licence and safe driving record. Willingness to travel between HammondCare’s sites and services
  • Experience in aged care / health settings (desirable)
  • Experienced in operating effectively in a multi-site environment (desirable)
