About the role
The Financial Controller (FC) reports to the Deputy CFO and manages 3 direct reports and a team of 12.
The role will have oversight of group level financial accounting, reporting and internal controls and be responsible for corporate level financial accounting. The FC and will work with finance teams to ensure accuracy and integrity in the financial accounts and be responsible for external and internal audit, preparation of statutory accounts, regulatory and FBT compliance and the development of internal controls and policies and procedures.
This is a permanent role based in St Leonards with hybrid opportunities.

Key Responsibilities include
- Month end accounts, including reviewing results, conducting variance analysis and working with business partners to understand drivers or corrections
- Preparation of consolidated statutory financial statements
- Identify, raise and provide insights and recommendations for improvement on financial accounting issues, risks and internal controls based on interpretation of accounting standards, best practice and other changes to reporting frameworks
- Compliance with FBT regulations and lodgment of returns
- Compliance with all relevant statutory obligations
- Maintaining and updating corporate policies and ensuring compliance.
- Maintain and improve financial processes, procedures, and internal controls
- Responsible for ensuring the monthly completion of balance sheet reconciliations by the Finance Team in compliance with agreed format to a high quality in readiness for Management review and Auditors.
- Oversee compliance with accounting standards and other regulatory requirements including coordination and liaising with the internal / external auditors
- Responsible for Aged Care Financial Reporting and Quarterly Financial Reporting processes and submission
- Responsible for the Financial Control team’s month end reconciliations (including fixed assets, leases, banking, payroll, accounts payable and credit cards, etc.)
- Preparation of budgets and forecast for accounts managed by Financial Control team
- Identify and drive efficiencies within the Financial Control Team
- Various project work as directed by the Deputy CFO
- Provide leadership and development of Financial Control team
About You

- CA qualified with Big 4 background
- Significant practical experience in a similar corporate role
- Strong financial and commercial modelling and analysis skills
- Strong financial and business partnering skills
- Experience managing a team of skilled professionals
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with senior stakeholders and ability to present technical information to non-finance executives
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities within set timeframes
- Excellent administrative and computer skills - exposure to Epicor systems advantageous
- Exposure to the Aged Care Sector advantageous
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Empathy and patience.
